Working on "Java Couple" with old Sony walkman during painting residency at Banff Centre for the Arts, Summer, 2000
A Faculty Enrichment Grant from Art Center allowed me an extended period of time for my new series of large format works on paper. Upon my return from Canada I continued the series, with oil on canvas or linen, in my studio back home in California. While in Banff that summer I began to bring the first abstract biomorphic and geometric marks into the paintings.
